Scaling & Polishing

Scaling & Polishing is a procedure that helps prevent tooth decay and other form of dental gum disease. This is done by removing plaque and tartar that has build up deep within the gum pockets. Removing the tartar or calculus build up, can reduce the acid attack to the teeth, helping to prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and other mouth disease from building up. Scaling & Polishing can preventing infections from worsening and promoting the healing of soft tissues. We recommend to have this procedure done at least once every year, however it varies from each individual.

Prophy – Jet Cleaning

The Prophy-Jet Cleaning is another alternative to traditional polishing. Traditional polishing uses a rotating rubber cup containing abrasive paste to clean your teeth, however Prophy-Jet sprays high-pressured water with Prophy powder particles to blast away soft deposits such as dental plaque and stains from food drinks and even smoking. In another words, your teeth will look slightly whiter and brighter after Prophy – Jet Cleaning.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride treatments are indicated to improve the structure of the teeth, and even though they are emphasized for children, they are also beneficial for all ages to strengthen the teeth. The purpose of this treatment after your cleaning is to help prevent cavities and tooth decay by adding minerals to your teeth. This is done in the dental clinic by biting on a tray filled with mineral substances for about 7 minutes

Fissure Sealant

Fissure Sealants are a protective layer over your teeth to help prevent tooth decay on the teeth. Thorough brushing and flossing help remove food particles and plaque from smooth surfaces of teeth but pit and fissures; however are extremely difficult places to clean.  In this treatment, a lasting material is placed on the surface of the teeth to seal the pits and fissures to protect against bacteria from entering. This preventive care is especially indicated for children, as it can help protect the permanent tooth.

Root Planning

If scaling is insufficient to remove calculus or bacteria surrounding the tooth, root planning may be indicated. This is when the bacteria has gone deep into your gums and has cause loss of bone surrounding the tooth. This procedure is done with using special instruments to scrap off the bacterial that is build beneath the gums, giving a healthy environment for the gums and teeth to heal. Root planning can be done surgically and non surgically. Our Doctors will explain the concept to you before the procedures starts.
