How To Take Care of Your Braces?

By: Smileway Dental

Braces are one type of treatment that people choose to make their teeth look nicer. It can straighten your teeth, close gaps between your teeth and also fix crooked teeth or a misaligned bite like under bite or overbite. But wearing braces needs an absolute care. Here are the ways that will help you to maintain your teeth in good condition as well as your braces.

  1. Brush your teeth 2-3 times per day

Brushing your teeth is very important for people who wear braces because every time we eat, the food that we eat easily stuck on our tooth as well as in the brackets, bands of your braces. During brushing you need to carefully clean thoroughly around wires and bracket making sure there is no food left on each area.

  1. Floss once a day

Using floss is also as important as brushing the teeth.  It doesn’t really matter if you floss whether in the morning or evening, as long as you include it in your routine at least once a day where you need to insert the floss through each gap below the wire.

  1. Use mouthwash

Using mouthwash is so important because it will not only help control bad breath but also helps to prevent plaque build-up on the teeth.

  1. Regular check up with your Orthodontist

Regular check-up is very important for those who are wearing braces because on each time that you need to see your Orthodontist is the time when they will adjust, check the condition of your teeth and braces as well.

  1. Control what you eat

Don’t eat food which contains a lot of sugar and sticky food because it will easily stick on your teeth and bracket. People with braces also need to be very careful with what they are eating because chewing on hard food like popcorn, nuts, mango can damage the braces. If the bracket loose, that one will affect the movement of your teeth and will cause the treatment longer.
