WHAT IS TEETH WHITENING?

By: Smileway Dental

Whitening is a process of using bleach or other materials to make teeth look whiter. The materials remove stains or other discoloration from the tooth surface.

Why whiten teeth?

Teeth colour is determined from the formation of it, some more yellow than the others. Over the time your teeth can also become stained and discolored through food and aging. In most situations, once your teeth have been stained or discolored, brushing alone cannot remove the stained or restore the whiteness of your teeth.

Types of whitening

In-office whitening

This is done in the dental clinic by the dentist. Usually takes an hour to complete. It is carried out carefully under monitored conditions and pain-free, using a relatively high concentration of bleaching gel which can give you instantly visible result.

Home kit whitening

They contain lower amount of bleaching gel than the whitening product used by dentist. You will still have good results with a longer time. The concentration is lower, the results are slower and slightly more stable.

How to take care of whitened teeth?
Reduce consumption of food that will stain teeth fast for example coffee, tea, red wine and smoking. If you choose to consume beverages that stain, prefer to use a straw so the liquid bypass your whitened teeth.

Use home whitening kit to maintain the whitened teeth at your own pace at the comfort of your home.

How long will it last?

Usually 8 months to 1 year.

Any side effects of teeth whitening?
